Consuelo Foundation is seeking a thoughtful, organized, and relationship-oriented Program Associate to
support our Hawaii program. This is an opportunity to work closely with community-based partners
across the islands and contribute to efforts that strengthen communities and improve well-being.
Established in 1987, Consuelo Foundation is an operating foundation dedicated to improving well-being
and preventing abuse, neglect, and exploitation of children, women, and families in Hawaii and the
Philippines. Guided by the vision of Consuelo Zobel Alger, our work is rooted in renewing hope and
strengthening communities.
In Hawaii, we partner closely with primarily rural, community-based organizations—many of them
small, grassroots groups deeply rooted in place and culture. Together, we work to build safe, strong, and
vibrant communities where people can thrive for generations.
Our approach emphasizes long-term relationships, trust, and learning. We support partners through
funding, technical assistance, and ongoing collaboration to deepen impact and foster connection and
belonging.
The Program Associate plays an important role in coordinating Consuelo Foundation's Hawaii
programmatic work. This position supports a portfolio of community-based initiatives and partners,
helping to ensure strong relationships, effective coordination, consistent follow-through, and smooth
internal coordination across agreements, payments, convenings, and partner support activities.
Working closely with the Senior Program Officer, the Program Associate helps translate program
strategy into day-to-day coordination—managing logistics, supporting partner engagement, tracking
progress, and contributing to learning across the Foundation's work.
This is an ideal role for someone who is highly organized, relationship-oriented, thoughtful, adaptable,
and comfortable balancing community-facing work with strong internal coordination.
Key responsibilities:
- Coordinate day-to-day engagement with community-based partners, including scheduling check-ins
and participating in site visits - Manage timelines, deliverables, and project coordination across a portfolio of initiatives
- Support planning and logistics for convenings, learning exchanges, and partner gatherings
- Capture insights and contribute to internal learning, reports, and communications
- Coordinate across internal teams to support agreements, procurement, payments, documentation,
and partner follow-through - Maintain organized systems and trackers, and flag risks or delays as needed
Requirements
- Approximately 2–6 years of relevant experience in nonprofit, philanthropy, or community-based
work, with an understanding of how nonprofit and community-based organizations operate,
including common capacity constraints and partnership dynamics - Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships across diverse communities
- Cultural humility and experience working in place-based or community-centered contexts (Hawaii
preferred) - Strong judgment, emotional intelligence, and ability to navigate sensitive situations with
professionalism and discretion - Ability to work flexibly, including occasional evenings and weekends
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
