Description
Nexstar Media Group is seeking a dynamic and creative Special Projects Producer to join a team focused on developing major content projects across the group. This role is instrumental in executing company-wide initiatives across local broadcast and digital platforms. We're looking for a visionary storyteller with strong journalistic instincts, a passion for compelling content, and the ability to engage diverse audiences. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can manage multiple projects simultaneously, and collaborates effectively across departments. This role involves developing original ideas, researching storylines, producing both short and long-form video content, and creating opportunities for local markets to customize material. Flexibility in scheduling and travel-both planned and spontaneous-is essential.Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate calendars and timelines for multiple projects with precision and attention to detail.
- Collaborate across departments including news, digital, promotions, operations, and production.
- Write, produce, and edit content for broadcast, Connected TV (CTV), and digital platforms.
- Contribute to editorial planning for large-scale initiatives and breaking news coverage.
- Oversee post-production to ensure accuracy and quality.
- Travel as needed to support live events and on-location production.
- Communicate project opportunities and updates across Nexstar operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field-or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum of two years' experience in news operations.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to build relationships and collaborate across teams.
- Proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel.
- Familiarity with modern television production technology.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and shifts.
- Must be based in or willing to relocate to a Nexstar market with a local newsroom supporting all dayparts.
- Physical presence in a Nexstar facility is required.
