Description
The Reconnect Program Manager is responsible for developing and managing initiatives that support adult learners, returning stop-outs, and at-risk students, primarily at the UCM Lee's Summit campus. This role provides direct advising, manages communications and data using CRM tools (such as Slate, Banner, and Achieve), and serves as the primary liaison to the TSC for online student engagement. The caseload typically ranges from 100 to 200 students enrolled in UCM Lee's Summit programs.
The manager collaborates with external organizations (e.g., Great Jobs KC, MARC, DHEWD) to align recruitment with enrollment goals, secure scholarships, and enhance student success. Close coordination with internal stakeholders ensures seamless support for online student transitions and engagement.
Examples of Duties
1. Program Development & Oversight (35%)
- Design and implement reconnect initiatives for adult learners in alignment with institutional and academic goals.
- Conduct targeted outreach to at-risk students via text, email, phone, and event tabling. Identify and address barriers to persistence and completion among KC Scholars; develop and recommend prevention strategies.
- Manage multiple student cohorts and track their progress toward program outcomes.
- Monitor metrics and provide regular updates to leadership and stakeholders.
- Oversee daily operations of the Reconnect program.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff on course planning for UCM Lee's Summit.
- Coordinate marketing and planning efforts with both internal and external partners.
- Actively participate in outreach events such as college fairs.
- Serve on the Online Student Transition and Engagement leadership team to standardize advising protocols and practices.
- Maintain a caseload of 100-200 students enrolled in UCM Lee's Summit programs.
- Provide academic advising, career counseling, and individualized support plans.
- Identify and assist students in overcoming academic and personal obstacles to success.
- Guide students through the admissions process, registration, placement testing, and orientation.
- Track progress toward goals and provide timely interventions as needed.
- Manage daily functions of Achieve and Slate, including communication workflows, configurations, event setup, and marketing campaigns.
- Maintain documentation and ensure timely updates to system settings and configurations.
- Collaborate with campus-wide users to implement best practices for tracking and utilizing student data.
- Continuously improve the advising system used to support students, advisors, faculty, and staff.
- Oversee onboarding and training for new Online Student Transition and Engagement Coordinators.
- Assess training needs each semester and offer professional development opportunities.
- Plan and facilitate an annual staff development day for the department.
- Update training materials to ensure alignment with professional advising standards.
- Provide training support for external partners (e.g., 2-year colleges, KC Scholars, MDHEWD).
- As delegated by the Manager of Online Student Transition and Engagement, serve on committees related to training and development.
Typical Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's degree required in one of the following fields: Guidance/Counseling, Student Personnel Administration, Higher Education Administration, Secondary Education, or a closely related field.
- 2 years of experience in higher education advising, career services, or student support required.
- 1 years of experience in college or university admissions preferred.
