- Project Manager - Solar Decommissioning (REMOTE)
Description
Position Overview:
As a Project Manager at Decom Solar, you will be responsible for overseeing the full life cycle of our
projects. You will manage the planning and coordination of all construction activities, working closely
with internal teams and external partners to clearly communicate and ensure that projects are
completed on schedule and within budget. Reporting to our Director of Construction, you will work
across multiple departments, with a direct line of communication with the company founders and be
involved with all aspects of our company operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee the full life cycle of projects at Decom Solar, including decommissioning and
decom/recoms (R&R), from initial due diligence to project closeout. - Collaborate with internal teams (Project Management, Legal, Procurement, Project Development)
and on-site construction teams to meet project milestones and ensure smooth project
execution. - Conduct site assessments, review of O&M reports, as-builts, and other relevant site data.
- Track and ensure compliance with local and state permitting requirements, managing any
changes throughout the project lifecycle. - Develop and review project plans, including schedules, budgets, risk management strategies,
and scopes of work, ensuring alignment across all phases. - Manage relationships with construction teams, vendors, and suppliers.
- Creation of construction project schedules, and risk assessments to ensure projects stay on
track through project closeout. - Maintain organized project documentation, ensuring the smooth handoff of deliverables from
pre-construction to construction and ultimately to project closeout. - Prepare and submit weekly project status reports to the client, ensuring clear communication on
progress, milestones, and any potential risks or delays.
Location:
The project manager position can be fully remote or hybrid, based out of one of our offices in
Charleston, SC, New York, NY or Los Angeles, CA. While the role is primarily office based (80-90%),
occasional travel to project sites, conferences, and meetings is required.
Requirements
Required Skills and Experience:
- 2+ years of experience in solar energy project development, coordination, or project
management. - Familiarity with solar and/or energy storage projects.
- Experience with project management software tools.
- Ability to identify potential risks during a project’s lifecycle.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, site assessments, and scopes of work.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, process-driven, results-oriented, and able to work
independently.
