About the job:
The Manager - Labor Economics provides analytic and strategic support for high-profile, company-wide labor initiatives that impacts 85,000+ union represented domestic and international employees including at Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBAs) negotiations. This role provides ad-hoc financial analysis and data visualization for Senior and Executive Leaders across all areas of the company. The position works closely with divisional leaders and subject matter experts to understand all impacts from CBAs and partners with Finance to develop economic models. During times of CBA negotiation, this position provides a seat at the negotiating table working with union counterparts and will serve a prominent role in securing agreements for our union represented workers. In this role, the employee:
Core accountabilities / key responsibilities:
- Provides strategic analysis and solutions to economic issues raised during CBA negotiations
- Collaborates with various groups to gather data and craft into concise deliverables for senior leadership to guide better labor decisions
- Provides industry benchmarking analyses for all labor groups
- Proficient on industry trends and understand major labor cost drivers for United and competitors
- Provides analytic and strategic support for labor relations
- Participates in the implementation of new labor agreements and ongoing CBA changes
- Performs ad-hoc and recurring analyses related to the company's labor expense
- Builds comprehensive financial analysis models by integrating data from several sources and systems
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications:
- 4+ years of experience in Economics, other related fields or relevant work experience
- Up to 25% travel
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently on multiple projects while meeting deadlines
- High level PowerPoint skills, with the ability to create clear, concise, and detailed presentations to guide decision making
- Ability to lead projects
- High degree of proficiency in developing complex financial models using Microsoft Excel and translating results for presentation through an executive summary/PowerPoint
- Excellent demonstrable written and verbal communication and story-telling skills with the ability to interact professionally with senior leadership
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across multiple areas of the company and at all levels in an organization
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
- Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
- Reliable, punctual attendance is a crucial function of the position
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience dealing with large data sets to perform analysis
- Experience with labor work groups and experience with major airline
The base pay range for this role is $102,220.00 to $133,194.00.
The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
